ITINERARY
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Spend the evening preparing for your adventure ahead. Enjoy a welcome dinner and a comprehensive briefing from your guide about the upcoming trek.
After an early breakfast, depart for Machame Gate, the starting point of your trek. Begin your ascent through the verdant rainforest, where you'll encounter diverse flora and fauna, such as blue monkeys and exotic birds. Reach Machame Camp in the late afternoon, set up in a forest clearing. Overnight at Machame Camp.
Today’s trek begins with a steep ascent up to the Shira Plateau, an open moorland offering panoramic views of the mountain. Pass by towering lobelias and giant groundsels. Arrive at Shira Camp in the early afternoon, where you'll have time to rest and explore the unique surroundings.
This challenging day involves trekking up to Lava Tower (4,600m), an important acclimatization point. Enjoy the surreal landscape, with the views stretching out over the Shira Plateau. Descend into the Barranco Valley, with its stunning views of the Western Breach and the Great Barranco Wall. Overnight at Barranco Camp.
Climb the Barranco Wall, a thrilling yet non-technical scramble, rewarded with breathtaking views from the top. Traverse the ridges and valleys of the mountain to reach Karanga Camp, your base for the day. This shorter trek helps with acclimatization as you rest and prepare for the summit push.
Begin your trek early towards Barafu Camp, the final base before your summit attempt. Arrive in the early afternoon, giving you plenty of time to rest and prepare. After an early dinner, sleep early as the summit push begins just after midnight.
Wake up around midnight and begin your ascent under the stars. This challenging stretch takes you through scree and ice to Stella Point, where you'll witness the sun rising over the horizon. Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest. Transfer back to Arusha in the evening for departure or onward arrangements.
