Transfer to Machame Gate (1,800m).
Transfer to Machame Gate (1,800m). Begin hiking through rainforest to Machame Camp (3,000m). A 5-6 hour trek through mossy jungle.
Day 2
Continue to Shira Camp (3,840m).
Continue to Shira Camp (3,840m). The landscape opens into moorland with stunning views of the Shira Plateau. 4-5 hour hike.
Day 3
Trek to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization
Trek to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,950m). This hike follows the "climb high, sleep low" principle.
Day 4
Climb the Barranco Wall
Climb the Barranco Wall a thrilling scramble then trek to Karanga Camp (4,035m), a shorter day ideal for rest and acclimatization.
Day 5
Ascend to Barafu Camp (4,640m)
Ascend to Barafu Camp (4,640m), where you’ll rest and prepare for the summit attempt.
Day 6
Around midnight, start the climb to Uhuru Peak via Stella Point
Around midnight, start the climb to Uhuru Peak via Stella Point. After sunrise on the summit, descend to Mweka Camp for overnight rest.
Day 7
Final descent through the forest to Mweka Gate
Final descent through the forest to Mweka Gate, where certificates are awarded. Return to Moshi or Arusha.
