Begin at Lemosho Gate (2,100m)
Begin at Lemosho Gate (2,100m) and trek through rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m).
Day 2
Climb to Shira 1 Camp across the Shira Ridge
Climb to Shira 1 Camp across the Shira Ridge, with panoramic views of the plains below.
Day 3
Continue to Shira 2 Camp
Continue to Shira 2 Camp, further acclimatizing and exploring the Shira Plateau.
Day 4
Hike to Lava Tower (4,630m)
Hike to Lava Tower (4,630m) then descend to Barranco Camp (3,950m).
Day 5
Conquer the Barranco Wall
Conquer the Barranco Wall and hike to Karanga Camp.
Day 6
Short hike to Barafu Camp
Short hike to Barafu Camp. Early dinner and rest for summit night.
Day 7
Midnight start for the summit.
Midnight start for the summit. Reach Uhuru Peak by sunrise, then descend to Mweka Camp.
Day 8
Final descent to Mweka Gate
Final descent to Mweka Gate and transfer to town.
